The Covid-19 lockdown restrictions in England will begin to ease from Monday, 12 April 2021, part of the next stage in the governments roadmap out of lockdown.

The new rules mean that: 

  • People are allowed to travel as far as they want outside their local area
  • People can go on holiday in the UK - but hotels, B&B's and hostels will still be closed
  • Indoor leisure centres and gyms can open
  • Non-essential shops like clothes shops, charity shops or toy shops can open
  • Hairdressers and nail salons are allowed to open

In addition:

  • Cafes, restaurants and pubs are allowed to open - however, pubs can only serve people outside who are seated at a table
  • Outdoor attractions like zoo's, theme parks and safari parks can open

Rule of 6

  • You can meet outdoors with groups of up to 6 people, or two households
  • You are not allowed to meet with people from other households indoors

Remember, You still need to...

  • Wash and sanitise your hands regularly
  • Wear a mask or face covering in shops and on public transport (if you are able to wear one)
  • Stay 2 meters apart from people you do not live with
