Men's Health Awareness Month

Throughout November, the Movember charity aims to increase awareness of some of the biggest health issues faced by men, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health struggles.

Mental Health & Suicide Prevention

GLOBALLY, ON AVERAGE, 1 MAN DIES BY SUICIDE EVERY MINUTE OF EVERY DAY.

Movember looks at mental health through a male lens, focusing on prevention, early intervention and health promotion. They’re working towards a world where men take action to be mentally well, and are supported by those around them.

Aim: By 2030 they hope to reduce the rate of male suicide by 25%!

Prostate Cancer

1 IN 8 UK MEN WILL BE DIAGNOSED WITH PROSTATE CANCER IN THEIR LIFETIME.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in the UK. Globally, more than 1.3 million men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year. Across the country, there are more than 333,500 men living with and beyond the disease. Many are dealing with serious side effects from treatment.

Aim: By 2030 Movember hopes to halve the number of men dying from prostate cancer, and halve the number of men facing serious ongoing side effects from treatment.

Testicular Cancer

TESTICULAR CANCER STRIKES YOUNG. IT’S THE MOST COMMON CANCER IN YOUNG UK MEN.

At greater than 95%, the odds of survival for men with testicular cancer are better than good – but for some men, long-term treatment-related side effects, mean quality of life is severely compromised. We focus on getting these predominantly young men back to living full and healthy lives.

Aim: By 2030, they aim to halve the number of men dying from testicular cancer, and halve the number of men facing serious ongoing side effects from treatment.
