We had a fantastic time at the Leeds Waterfront Festival with the Canal and River Trust. The event was specially designed to be accessible for autistic, neurodiverse and people with learning disabilities.

Leeds Dock and Royal Armouries Square made the perfect venue to host all the festivities on Friday, 13th August, and we couldn't have asked for a better turn out.

Making A Splash!

Attendees enjoyed all the free activities on offer, including:

  • Canoeing in Leeds Dock
  • A time-travelling adventure walk with theatre company Rusticus
  • Live historical demonstrations with the Royal Armouries
  • Water themed Arts & Crafts with Leeds Autism Services
  • Photography Competition
  • Waterside Scavenger Hunt

Community Spirit

We were joined by fellow stall holders Royal Armouries, William Merritt Centre, LEEP1 & Cafe LEEP, Specialist Autism Services and Canal & River Trust.

We would like to thank everyone for their support and making the festival such a success! After a challenging 18 months, this was our first public event for a while, so we were thrilled with all the positive feedback.

The festivities were even featured in the local news, with a full page article in the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Photography Competition Winner

We ran a variety of activities on our stall during the Festival, from making your own carton boats, to using stencils to create our own canal boat art, a super fun waterside scavenger hunt and our popular photography competition.

Thank you to everyone who submitted photos to the Waterfront Photography Competition. We have received some fantastic entries and its now time to announce the winner. It was a close vote, however we are pleased to announce...

...the winner is......

Cheryl Stewart with her beautiful shot of a man fishing by the River Aire! We liked the composition of the photograph, and how she has captured a timeless image of a historic part of Leeds.

Well done Cheryl!
