Happy Mental Health Awareness Week!

This year’s theme is KINDNESS. It’s time to focus on Kindness to others, and Kindness to ourselves.  🌈🌏

The MHF survey for Mental Health Awareness Week said that 72% of UK adults say it is important we learn to be a kinder society. 63% say that when people are kind to them, it has a positive impact on their mental health and the same number say that being kind to others has a positive impact on their mental health.

Here are some great ideas of how you can spread a little Kindness:

  1. Call a friend who you haven’t spoken to for a while
  2. Post a card or letter to someone you are out of touch with
  3. Offer to help out a neighbour with their shopping, errands or dog walking
  4. Check in on someone who might be going through a hard time
  5. Praise a colleague for a job well done
  6. Make someone a cup of tea and offer a listening ear
  7. Share something beautiful like a photo from your walk
  8. Teach someone something new
  9. Donate – your time, money or goods to someone who needs it more
  10. Send a care package to someone who needs it

Don’t forget to be Kind to yourself too:

  1. Practice some self – care
  2. Learn something new
  3. Write down 3 things you like about yourself
  4. Reward yourself for a job well done
  5. Be good to your body and have a workout
  6. Feed your mind and body with a new healthy recipe
  7. Carve out some time each day to focus on yourself
  8. Forgive yourself and move on
  9. Honour your dreams and goals
  10. Stop striving for perfection and tell yourself “ I am enough, I am worthy, and I deserve to be happy”

Remember, how we treat ourselves and each other determines the kind of community we live in, so take some time each day to spread a little kindness and see the wonderful benefits from your kind acts.
