Exciting news! We have just received our order from the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard Scheme!

We now have lanyards, pin badges, wristbands, face covering exemption cards and bus pass wallets for the people we support to choose from.

What is the Sunflower Scheme?

The Sunflower is here to support people with a hidden disability, making the invisible, visible and helping people attain the understanding, patience and assistance needed when going about their daily lives.

If your hidden disability means that you cannot wear a face covering, you should not be routinely asked to give any written evidence of this. You also do not need to seek advice or request a letter from a medical professional about your reason for not wearing a face covering.

However, if you feel more comfortable showing something that says that your hidden disability makes you face covering exempt, you can find a range of Hidden Disabilities Sunflower face covering exempt cards. Wearing such a card is a personal choice and is not necessary the law.

What is a Hidden Disability?

A hidden disability is a disability that may not be immediately obvious.

Hidden disabilities don't have physical signs and include learning difficulties, mental health as well as mobility, speech, visual or hearing impairments. They can also include asthma, COPD, and other lung conditions as well as chronic illnesses such as renal failure, diabetes, and sleep disorders when those diseases significantly impact day-to-day life.

Living with these conditions can make daily life more demanding for many people.
