We have signed up to the Happiness Programme, a brand new initiative from Social-Ability designed to change lives of people living with cognitive challenges, learning disabilities and autism.

Our New Mabgate Base has been testing out the new interactive light projector with an integrated activity programme and responds to movement.

It comes with a package full of apps which includes bingo, quizzes, art / painting, sensory projections, movement based games… loads of fun stuff – it even has YouTube built into it.

As well as being a fun, interactive tool it can be used to help people meet the outcomes from support plans, and you can also measure how it has assisted people.

The idea behind it is that it encourages more social interaction, gets people moving, develops life skills, and gives people access to digital technology who wouldn’t normally for one reason or another. The projector is portable, so can be taken to the person, and also moveable so you can project onto any surface.

Chris Baird from Social-Ability delivered a training course for our staff team, to show us how the interactive light projector works and to ensure we can get the most out of our new piece of technology.

A number of our members have started to explore the wide variety of games and projections the Happiness Programme provides, such as air hockey, flag painting quizzes, fire works and sensory scenes.

We cant wait to report back once all our members have had a chance to experience the interactive light projector.
