We're helping to celebrate International Day of Disabled People with a market place event at Leeds City Museum.

The theme is Transformation, Innovation and Inclusion.

The event is coordinated by Leeds for All, to celebrate the contribution of Disabled people to Leeds. International Day of Disabled People (IDODP) is an international day that is celebrated every year on 3 December. This is the 5th year that Leeds has organised a collaborative event to mark this special day.

What's Happening

The Leeds for All Marketplace will showcase a selection of community-based organisations and services and provide a great opportunity to meet and connect with people from different local groups. At this year’s event there will also be an opportunity to join interactive workshops and discussions on the day.

The event aims to create a welcoming space for reflection, connection, acceptance and challenge.

Speakers and Interactive Activities

Alongside The Lord Mayor of Leeds and Councillor Kevin Ritchie we have two extra special guest speakers:

Jodie Boyd-Ward: Leeds Rhinos Wheelchair Rugby Captain

Craig Grimes: Managing Director of Experience Community CIC, Leeds

On the day there will be inclusive activities which you can watch, listen to, or take part in to have a go! These are being run by:

  • Yorkshire Dance
  • Active Leeds, Yorkshire Cricket
  • The Feel Good Circus

There will also be a quiet/sensory room open manned by Leeds Autism Services throughout the day for anyone to use if they are feeling overwhelmed or need a break.
